The return of nature
This project explores the concept of Dualism, particularly in the context of how we perceive and interact with nature. The interpretations of nature are manifold, yet a common thread is its association with purity, often seen as an escape from the rigors of reality. Hauz Khas, a renowned site in Delhi, epitomizes this notion by offering a sanctuary that evokes a sense of nature and the wild, despite being nestled within the urban environment. This seemingly untamed wilderness is, paradoxically, a human construct—an intentional design that integrates natural elements into the urban fabric.
Overall Massing
Overall Massing
The deliberate creation of wilderness within the cityscape reflects a uniquely human endeavor to domesticate the wild, shaping it to serve as a respite from urban life. By extending this concept to the ruins within Hauz Khas, the project aims to seamlessly blend the built environment with its natural surroundings, thus reimagining the ruins as an intrinsic component of the wilderness.
Isometry
Elevation
This approach challenges traditional dichotomies that emphasize a separation between humans and nature. By blurring these boundaries, the project seeks to foster a more holistic and interconnected understanding of our place within the environment. It underscores the idea that human and natural realms are not mutually exclusive but are deeply intertwined, advocating for a paradigm shift towards a more integrated and symbiotic relationship with the natural world.
